Why did MCC chose to blend a cleanser and friction reducer as the main ingredients of XLP? The Clean Air Act mandates that all gasoline be treated with detergent to reduce emissions into the atmosphere. These minimum levels of detergents may not prevent the formation of deposits on fuel injectors, carburetors and intake valves.
Harmful effects of deposits in the Carburetor and Fuel Injectors cause hesitation and stumbling, higher emissions of Hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, lower fuel economy and lower power output. In regard to the intake values, deposits cause hesitation, higher emissions and lower power output.
Therefore, performance benefits of deposit control additives can; provide excellent port fuel injector deposit cleanup and keep-clean performance, provide excellent injection value deposit cleanup and keep-clean performance and have no detrimental side effects. However, since everyone drives cars that vary in model, age and consistency of maintenance, it becomes difficult to predict your exact results. Now, lets discuss the second ingredient, the friction modifier. You can get both immediate and long-term benefits from the friction modifier. Immediate benefits include an improvement in fuel economy and the reduction of internal friction in the engine. Used over the long haul, it can improve or restore fuel efficiency of the engine oil. Using a common industry standard test, XLP showed the residual effect of friction modifiers that accumulate in the oil crankcase with continued use of this product. This is achieved from wall wetting and accumulation in crankcase oil.

Why a Diesel fuel detergent? To help maintain cleanliness of the fuel pump and component parts, helps to prevent fouling and deposit formation on the fuel injector nozzles, to control acid initiated corrosion and erosion of fuel injector nozzle orifices and to provide corrosion control and protection of ferrous metal parts. Detergents also aid in the preventing of gum formation on high pressure fuel injector parts. The use of detergents in ULSD fuel has gained even more importance with the launch of the 2007 diesel engines designed specifically for ULSD fuel.
Benefits of XLP PD: Provides engine clean up and keeps clean performance, improves fuel economy, reduce emissions, meets the lubricity requirements suggested by the OEM's, provide excellent corrosion protection, reduce pour point up to 35 degrees F, reduce CFPP up to 22 degrees F, provide deicing protection down to -50 degrees F and improve fuel stability. Your results will vary depending on the equipment, age of the equipment and the upkeep of the equipment.
Why do I need a Lubricity Improver? ULSD has less lubricity due to the process used to remove sulfur. Lubricity is required to protect fuel injection systems. Lubricity is measured as a function of wear and is measured by ASTM D 6079 High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR).
Lubricity Requirement--XLP PD meets the suggested wear requirements of OEM's: New revision to ASTM D 975 5 requires wear scar diameter of <520>D975 5 is at the state level. Twenty-six states now require diesel fuel to meet ASTM D 975 5-520 micron average scar wear diameter.

XLP PD Enhances the performance of fuels with poor lubricity characteristics such as ultra low sulfur diesel, increases service life of fuel handling and metering systems, demonstrates minimal interaction with basic system contaminates such as lube oils and caustic, excellent tolerance to water contamination and does not contribute to combustion deposits.
XLP PD improves low temperature characteristics of diesel fuel. At low temperatures, wax crystals form in diesel fuel causing problems with pumping and filtration. Wax can accumulate on fuel filter media leading to plugging of small orifices and lines. Pour point SLSD baseline is -1 degree F and CFPP is 10 degrees F.
XLP PD is effective in reducing ice formation: Water contamination in diesel fuel is common. Ice crystals from in cool fuel and settle to the bottom of the tanks. Ice crystals may cause additional problems with fuel pumpability and fuel filter plugging.
XLP PD improves the storage stability of diesel fuel: unstable fuels will turn dark and produce gum forming residues. Filter plugging and poor performance will follow. Stabilizers are usually added to prevent this degradation. Literature reports suggest that the thermal/oxidative stability of ULSD fuel will not require additional stabilizer. ULSD fuel is highly paraffinic with very low aromatic and olefinic content. Work conducted by SwRI suggests that combinations of ULSD fuel combines with bio diesel fuel (B20) are unstable and difficult to stabilize.
Treat Rate: Bottle size is 1 gallon which treats 600 gallons of diesel fuel.
